Spiel des Jahres Winners
Qwirkle (2011 Spiel des Jahres winner)
Qwirkle (2011 Spiel des Jahres winner)
Product Description: Qwirkle is a game where you must match colour or shapes. The game consists of 108 wooden blocks with six shapes in six colours. Using the tiles, players score points by building lines that share a common attribute - either colour or shape. Qwirkle is a quick game to learn.

Review: Qwirkle plays like Scrabble but instead of using letters, you match colour and shape. There are six different colour and shape tiles. You start with six tiles. On your turn, play the tiles, and then draw back up to six tiles. When you play tiles off of a row or column, if it is colour, then it must be the same colour but different shapes. If it is shape, then it must be the same shape but different colours. The amount of tiles in the row or column is how many points you score. A “Qwirkle” is when all six shapes/colour is played on a row/column, score bonus 6 points. Player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Qwirkle is a very easy game to learn, but trying to score the most points every turn is not as easy as it seems.

Qwirkle is the Craving for a Game 2010 Family Board Game of the Year and the 2011 Spiel des Jahres (German Game of the Year).
